The kakapo

The kakapo is native to New Zealand and it is distinctive smelling. The kakapo is green. It is a parrot and it has green feathers. People can not shoot kakapo. The kakapo weighs up to 8 pounds and there are 124 left. It is flightless which means the kakapo can’t fly. They are endangered. Their predators are mice, rats, cats, stoats and ferrets and the kakapo sleeps during day.

It was a 250cc motorcross bike. He was in the lead when we were having a race. Then we went all the way out to Oamaru. On the way back we went to a bridge to have a swim. We were jumping off it.

Celebration of Learning
Thank you to those parents and relatives who were able to come to our celebration of learning last term. It was great to have so many of you there. The children really enjoyed sharing their work with you. I look forward to the next celebration of learning at the end of this term.

Ulearn 08
I spent three days at Ulearn 08 in Christchurch together with my fellow teachers from Centennial School. This was a conference for teachers and schools who are part of the ICT professional development. It was a wonderful experience to learn and share along 1700 other teachers from all over New Zealand. My focus for this conference was to learn more about blogging and wikispaces. I learnt lots of new things which I want to try with our classroom blog. Homework
This term, our homework routines will be a bit different. The children are still expected to read every night and to fill in their reading log. They are also required to complete a variety of spelling activities during the week. Reading logs will be checked daily, but spelling homework will only be handed in and checked on Friday morning. Please look out for the new homework sheet in your child’s homework book.

Stationery
If your child brings home a stationery list with item that he/she needs, could you please make sure they bring the money in a named envelope to me (not the office), or buy the items somewhere else. This is to ensure that they have all the material they need for this term. Thank you.

It is a wonderful experience to learn and share along 1700 other teachers from throughout the country. I have learnt lots about blogging, podcasting, voicethreads, and all sorts of other exciting things.

Celebration of Learning 2
